Time to set the record straight once again--Illinois Prep Bulls-eye does not report information first regarded as rumor unless we believe that it has substantial validity.  With that in mind, when we were the first to report on the internet via our Twitter account two days ago that it looked like Crandall Head would be transferring to DePaul University we had little doubt that it would ultimately become a reality.

Sure enough, Head's decision is now official, as he has announced that he will enroll at DePaul next Fall after spending the current Spring semester at a local junior college which is to be determined.  By doing this, Head would only miss the Blue Demons' first two games next season and then would become eligible to play.

After opting to leave the University of Illinois, citing that his style of play was not a fit for head coach Bruce Weber's system, DePaul quickly became the school that Head wanted to transfer to.  Bo Delaney, Head's stepfather, was also very much in support of the move.  The only hangup centered around the question of how Head would go about obtaining his Associates Degree, something that he must accomplish in order to play at DePaul.  That has now been worked out.

Head plans on immediately enrolling at a local junior college for the current Spring semester.  He hopes to receive enough credits to be able to have his Associates Degree either by the end of the semester or over the summer at the latest.  After that he would then transfer to the Lincoln Park campus next Fall, where he would have two years of eligibility for head coach Oliver Purnell and the Blue Demons.

There is no question that Blue Demons assistant coach Billy Garrett was most instrumental in enabling Head's transfer to DePaul to come about.  Not only did Garrett make it known to Head and Delaney that he was in full support of the move, but his close friendship with Delaney as well as his strong connections with the Mac Irvin Fire (Head's traveling team) proved to be key factors with respect to sealing the deal.

Head decided to leave the Illini this past December after getting sparse minutes this season and as a freshman.  Provided he takes care of business academically, we believe that he should prove to be a great fit for the offensive system that coach Purnell employs at DePaul.
