Darius Austin, the 6'6 2014 wing forward from Cahokia High School in Cahokia, IL received a scholarship offer from DePaul University and head coach Oliver Purnell today while on an unofficial visit to the Lincoln Park campus.  The offer was confirmed by Austin himself via his Twitter account.

Austin was accompanied on his visit to DePaul by two of his teammates on the Southwest Illinois Jets Orange 15-Under traveling team squad--6'3 2014 shooting guard Darreon Reddick from Belleville East High School in Belleville, IL and 6'2 2014 point guard C.J. Rivers from Cahokia.  Also making the trip to DePaul along with Austin, Reddick and Rivers was their Jets traveling team coach Dana Morgan.  Immediately upon the conclusion of the visit, both Austin and Reddick indicated that they were quite impressed with DePaul and everything that the school has to offer.

As it turns out, Reddick was also offered by DePaul on his visit.  Besides the Blue Demons, Reddick is also being recruited by Missouri State, Indiana State, Missouri and Tennessee among others.

It has been a busy weekend for Austin in terms of campus visits, as he also took an unofficial to the University Of Illinois yesterday and attended the Illini men's basketball team's opening scrimmage.  And things don't figure to slow down for him just yet, as he is scheduled to visit Ohio State on October 29 and Xavier on November 5.

Austin's offer from the Blue Demons represents his third D1 offer to date.  The other two are courtesy of St. Louis and SIU-Edwardsville.  In addition to the aforementioned schools, Austin also continues to receive extensive interest from Missouri, Purdue, Butler and Tennessee among others.

Austin is an athletic wing who unquestionably ranks among the top 10 prospects in Illinois from the 2014 class.  He has outstanding ballhandling and passing skills, is able to consistently power his way to the basket and has an excellent feel for the game.
