Anyone who knows us realizes that we rarely rave about players who are only in 8th grade. However, Jordan Ash, a 5'11 guard from Bolingbrook, IL who will attend Bolingbrook High School next Fall, is a player who is definitely worth raving about! Quite frankly, it is downright scary to think about how good Ash is right now and how much better he will get.
After watching Ash at both the Hall of Fame Chicago Championship at ATTACK Athletics and the Battle For The Arch in St. Louis we are confident in saying that Ash is already the second best college prospect on the talented Illinois Wolves 15-Under team behind Chatham-Glenwood freshman Peyton Allen.
Despite being only 5'11, Ash is a stellar athlete and an absolute blur on the court. He can dunk with authority, is creative with the ball and has a first step that quite often leaves defenders shaking their heads in amazement. Ash also shows tremendous poise and overall is a good decision-maker, although he occasionally overpenetrates and forces the action, which can be expected for a player so young.
While perimeter shooting is not Ash's forte just yet, at the same time if you back off of him he can keep you honest from downtown. There is no question that college coaches need to be on notice--Ash is one of the elite-level talents in the class of 2015 along with 6'10 (yes, you read it right!) center Tyler Jackson from Naperville, IL, who will attend Nazareth Academy in Lagrange Park, IL next season.
